Today I learned that Godiva chocolate cost $39/lb. When the girl at the counter told me, I just burst out laughing. She gives me a confused look and goes, "What?" And I said, "That's funny to me. (beat) I was the kid in Bio who laughed all the time."

She did not get the reference. Someone, please get it.


PS: Godiva is privately held company. So much for giving stock certificates for Valentine's Day.

Now a few comments:

If you want it to be possessive, it's just "I-T-S." But, if it's supposed to be a contraction then it's "I-T-apostrophe-S," ...scalawag.

And call me a bit old fashioned, but I'm not sure I'd ever consider stock certificates (even for a Belgian chocolate company) romantic. On the other hand, you are dating a Republican, so maybe that would work.

And yes, as a Republican she is committed to deficit reduction (unless spending money on hurricane damage or taking over Middle Eastern countries) and not liking poor people.
